It could be time to dust off the shorts, sunglasses and outdoor play equipment with temperatures expected to reach 22C today in some areas of Britain, making it hotter than places like Barcelona.
The good weather in the south-east of the country is expected to continue into the weekend,where kids will no doubt be itching to get their summer activities underway.
It makes a pleasant change from the usual April fare, which generally sees the thermometer hovering around 12C, while rain often puts a dampener on the fun.
"Today will possibly be the warmest day this year, with warm, dry weather and sunny spells across much of England. It warms up again for the weekend, with temperatures in the upper 60s (Fahrenheit) or higher on both Saturday and Sunday," said the Met Office's good news bringer Andrew Sibley.
While mum and dad might think of inviting friends round for a barbecue, this weekend could be an ideal opportunity to get the kids out in the garden and enjoying the early summer spell.
